After Effects

I’ve learned a lot being in this class. I have really enjoyed how it has exposed me to many things in the digital media world that I really didn’t put much thought too. However, with that being said, the thing I’ve most enjoyed about this course would definitely be learning about after effects. After effects was a really fun concept to learn about and applying it with the videos we made topped it all for me. At first it was difficult to grasp all the material and really apply it when using the program after effects.When you first download and open the program its overwhelming! I say that because there is so many options and things you can do, the design and the ideas are endless! For my project I decided to do the integration effect effect, and boy that was a great choice. I followed a YouTube video as a guide to help me since I am still fairly new with the program, however at the end of making the video there was so much I learned along the way. Something else that struck me int he process about learning After Effects is, the amount of time goes into it. I made a 7 second video and it took me about two hours. I constantly kept thinking about the Avengers Infinity War movie and thought, WOW! those editors must spend hours upon hours working to make such a masterpiece. Its inspiring really. As viewers we never think about all the work that goes behind the screen.

What do I think?

What topic do I think should be added to the course? Personally, I think everything we have covered thus far has been great and a definite eye opener for me. Something I would of like to touch on and something that I think should be introduced is the basic of creating a flyer. I create flyers sometime for certain events, and i found myself questioning a lot of this as to what is right and what is wrong, what looks good and what doesn’t, and all that good stuff. However, as I have continued to make them, I think I have come to realize, the world is my oyster when it comes to being creative with the flyers I make. I think that the structure of flyers and promotions is super important and definitely think it is a big part of digital media. I would have like to learn more about this concept and little hacks on how to improve. I think that learning about the basic structure would be great in order to learn and identify what is a good flyer and what is not. Not only that, but flyers are seen all the of the time in advertising. I think that as editors and people in digital media should know the importance of what catches the eye of a consumer and how t attack and get that goal. Other than that, I think that everything in the course has been helpful and has definitely helped me learn more about the media.

Social Concept?

Social Concept, what exactly is that you may ask. Honestly when I first heard the term, I asked myself the same thing. Oddly enough, its a fairly simple definition to understand, and not only that, but we live it everyday. Social concept is nothing more than and idea, a topic, and or trend that has been created and accepted by the people in society. In this class ive heard and learned about many different concepts that I honestly didn’t even know they were really relevant to us. My thought was, what does social concepts have to do with digital media? Isn’t digital media just about learning how to make and edit things? Man, was I wrong! Digital media is everything when it comes to social concepts because we are the ones that create things that people see and can have an opinion on. We can create things that are true, or even things that are fake and that can alter the view of the world and even bring upon conflict. That is why its so important that we are honest about everything we create! The concept that struck me the most was, the fact that there is Online Racism. That truly broke my heart, and realizing that its actually a huge problem online. I realized that even people trying to sell things online, can be discriminated, and that just not fair. I also learned that just by the sound of peoples voice on the phone can determine certain things. Those are just a few examples of online racism.
